2013 Registration is Now Open

Open Registration 2013 – Ja nuary 20 to May 10, 2013

Once again, the 2013 registration process will be completely on-line and accessible at the team website, www.edhtaz.org .  Begin the registration process by clicking the “2013 Registration” button on the team web-site.

Please visit the website for information new for 2013 not listed here . Log on and click the Team Info button.

In 2013, the TAZ will continue with a single registration period that is available to both returning and new families. Priority will be given to returning families with accounts in good standing until March 1. After March 1, swimmers will be accepted on a first come first served basis, dating back to the January 20 opening date.

Returning Swimmer Registration – January 20 – March 1, 2013
Returning swimmers with accounts in good status must register during this time to be assured a place on the team.  A returning swimmer is an athlete that swam for TAZ in 2012 and participated in a minimum of three dual meets during the season. An account in good status is one where the family fulfilled their volunteer commitment for 2012.

Please do not wait to register..... All remaining places on the team will be open to ANYONE that registers on or after January 20, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Open Registration – January 20 to May 10, 2013
New swimmers and returning swimmers who do not qualify for priority may also register during this time. All swimmers (new and returning) who register during this time will ONLY receive a place on the team as long as there are places available in the requested age group. This will be on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED basis. Once an age group is full, registrants will be placed on our wait list. Every new swimmer to the team will be contacted by the TAZ Registrar to confirm that they have either been placed on the team or added to the wait list. All new 6&Under swimmers and returning Junior TAZ swimmers must pass a safety check to secure a place on the team. The safety check will be held at the EDH CSD pool on April 26, 2013. See below for details.

Water Safety Check - Mandatory for ALL NEW 6&Under swimmers

April 26, 2013

5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

El Dorado Hills CSD Pool

The water safety check is mandatory for ALL NEW 6&Under swimmers to secure a spot on the 2013 TAZ swim team. All of these swimmers must come to the El Dorado Hills CSD on April 26, 2013, to swim for our coaches. Each new swimmer must demonstrate his/her ability to swim one length of the swimming pool (25 yards) across without assistance in 2 minutes or less. One or two rests will be permitted on the lane ropes as long as the majority of the time is spent swimming within the two-minute time frame. Any new swimmer who does not pass the water safety check will be given a full refund less a $25 processing fee.

Some important aspects of registration for 2013 are:

Returning families paying by check: Registration fees must be received by the Registrar no later than March 1. Information on fees as well as the mailing address is available at the conclusion of the on-line registration process.

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the continuation of the Junior TAZ Program.  This program is aimed at expanding opportunities for swimmers in the 6&Under age group who, because of high demand, do not receive slots during the Open Registration process.  As well, the program is geared toward those 6&U swimmers who are not quite ready for normal practices or competition in meets.  The Junior TAZ program is developmental in nature and should not be considered “swim lessons.”  Lessons are available to young children over the summer through the CSD.

Families may not select the Junior TAZ program when registering.  Participation in the Junior TAZ program is by invitation only.  Families invited to participate in the Junior TAZ will be contacted separately by the Registrar.  If demand exceeds the number of slots available, a lottery will apply to the Junior TAZ program.

New 6&U swimmers must pass the Safety Check prior to beginning practice. ALL 6&U swimmers must demonstrate proficiency by the end of the first week of practice, or within one-week of joining the team.  Conditions of proficiency are described in the Terms and Conditions section of the registration.

In 2013, all swimmers must “splash” (participate) in a minimum of 3 meets in order to be eligible for pre-registration in 2014.

2013 begins the first year of a two-year suit cycle. Families must purchase the team suit through the on-line store on the team website.  Suit fitting will be available during the first week of practice.  Again, watch the website for details.

The “quiet period” begins on February 15th, 2013.  Please refer to the revised quiet period guidelines in the News section of the team website.  All registrants must conform to these guidelines to be eligible to compete.

Practice begins Monday, April 29th.  Check the website in mid-April for practice schedules. (To get an idea of a practice schedule you may look at the 2012 schedule on the website.)

The parent volunteer hour requirement for 2013 will remain at fifteen (15) hours per family during the dual-meet season and a minimum number of hours (TBD) to cover the team’s shifts at Championships. Any family with a 10&Under swimmer is required to fill a minimum of one ready bench shift during the season.

Finally, we invite families to begin monitoring the team website for important information regarding the 2013 schedule, clinics, and special events. The website is our primary means of communication to team members.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we welcome our returning families, as well as new families, to another exciting year of TAZ swimming!
